The CAPP™ signifies that an advisor has the requisite knowledge on comprehensive asset protection strategies/solutions to hold the certification and use the CAPP™ mark.
Knowledge of the following items is required to pass the CAPP™ exam:
-Domestic asset protection structures
-Tax mitigation strategies (income, capital gains, estate)
-Stock market risk mitigation strategies and products
-Long-term care cost mitigation strategies and products
The CAPP™ exam is made up entirely of three essay questions. These questions are real world fact patterns of the typical clients who need asset protection planning.
Advisors are tasked with taking all their knowledge to put in written form:
-the asset protection problems each client faces
-the potential solutions to those problems
-a formal recommendation that the exam-taking advisor would recommend
Per the NCCA requirements on companies that issue certifications, there is no “official” study material.
Advisors are free to learn the concepts needed to pass the CAPP™ exam from any source.
Advisors can buy access to educational material offered through the Asset Protection Society™. Much of the material on the APS™ website is free. Advisors can also choose to purchase optional material to help them pass the CAPP™. Click here to learn more.
